| Pat Phelps of Dixon Hughes began her automotive
career in l962, at the age of l6, with a
GM dealer as the dealer's secretary. She
figured car payments, typed sales contracts,
receipted car payments, posted received and
sold parts on the card inventory system,
set up new and used car inventory on the
card inventory system as well as posted repairs
and accessories to the system, wrote and
submitted warranty claims, and cashiered
for service. Within a year she was taught
cost accounting and posted all accounting
entries manually. From this began a life
long career in the automotive world. With 42 years of domestic and import dealership experience, Pat brings extensive "hands-on" experience to every position in the accounting office, including office manger and controller. She has worked as a controller for single point dealers, multi-franchised dealers, mega dealers and a dealer development group dealer. Pat has been actively involved in buy-sell situations, as well as initial startup procedures for new dealers. She also worked as an F&I manager for 3 years. As a Dixon-Hughes consultant, Pat assists her clients in all areas of accounting which includes accounts payable and receivable, cash flow analysis, bank reconciliations, budget preparation, individual and consolidated financial statements, general ledger, payroll administration, inventory valuation and control, monthly closings, in house dealership training for every accounting position including office manager and controller, set up and or "fine tune" the daily doc, aids in better set ups for F&I interface to accounting and in implementing policies and procedures for internal controls.
